Courses we offer
As an official Canadian Red Cross training partner, MSERT offers first aid and CPR/AED courses to the general public, taught by experienced instructors.
Upon completion of a full course, participants receive a certification valid for three years in first aid and/or CPR.
Standard First Aid & CPR/AED
Duration: 16 Hours.
Comprehensive two-day course offering first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines and training in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED
Duration: 8 Hours.
Basic one-day course offering an overview of first aid and CPR skills for the workplace of home. Includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. Meets OHS regulations for Basic First Aid. Exceeds competitors’ standards by including injury prevention content, CPR, and AED.
CPR/AED Level C
Duration: 6 Hours.
Courses on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) provide the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies and choking for adults, children, and babies, depending on the level of CPR chosen. Courses meet legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards, and include the latest CPR guidelines and training in the use of an AED.
Psychological First Aid
Duration: 14 Hours.
This course equips learners in developing a personal understanding of the effects of stress, loss, trauma and grief on others, with emphasis on self-care and personal protection. Learners will be introduced to the Red Cross Look, Listen, Link, Live model – a resiliency-building approach to emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing that teaches learners how to support themselves and others to cope with the effects of various types of stress. The course uses primarily case-based learning and includes the latest evidence from the international community
